Healthy scalp means healthy hair
If your scalp is irritated, dry, or unbalanced, your hair health will reflect that. We recommend massaging your scalp by adding a couple of drops of peppermint or rosemary oil once a week with your shampoo. Scalp massages not only feel great but also stimulate the follicles to encourage healthier hair growth. Aloe Vera is a wonderful plant to use for antimicrobial properties to fight off bacteria & irritation that can cause dandruff. We recommend using Aloe Vera from a fresh cutting, not the gel you find in drug stores. Another way to keep a healthy scalp is to use clarifying shampoos once a month to remove product build up from dry shampoos, hair sprays, and styling products. We recommend using Apple Cider Vinegar to clarify, just mix ACV with water and apply from root to ends in place of your shampoo in the shower. Let it sit for 3 minutes and then rinse & condition as normal.
Mask weekly
Help lock in moisture with weekly pre-poo masks. The natural oils in our Repair Hair Mask will help restore damaged hair and strengthen weak strands caused by products, heat, and dyeing. Keeping your strands moisturized will keep them from becoming brittle and gaining any more damage. The castor oil in our hair mask is filled with linoleic acid that stimulates hair growth and maintains healthy scalp conditions (told ya, a healthy scalp is everything). We suggest leaving a mask on for at least a half hour or overnight for best results.
Temperature matters
Hot showers may feel great after a hard workout but they can also cause damage to your hair cells in the follicle, leaving them damaged and unable to hold on to the strands. This will result in hair fall, something most women are all too familiar with. Opt for washing with warm water to help open up the pores to loosen dirt and oils. Then finish with cold water to close the hair cuticle for shinier, smoother hair and increased blood circulation.
Invest in a good brush
Opt for a wooden or bamboo hairbrush. We recommend Tek brushes. They help distribute scalp oils from root to tip, coating the whole strand with natural moisture. The wood bristles are also great for stimulating the scalp and cause less breakage because they are usually positioned far apart from each other. And the cherry on top, they are a great sustainable option!
